This is without a doubt the star event of this little town in the Berguedà region, which strives to keep alive a profession in danger of extinction: shepherding. On the last Sunday in August, leading shepherds from all over Catalonia, the rest of Spain and Europe converge on Castellar de n’Hug to take part in the sheepdog trials, in which shepherds and their dogs demonstrate their skills, rapport and mountain life spirit.
