The Dance of Death in Manresa

Dance of Death

The Dance of Death in Manresa is one of the few danses macabres (dances of death) that take place over Easter. Do you still not know about it?

The dance became part of the Good Friday procession in the 1950s. And although it was not danced for some time, the Dance of Death in Manresa is now known as one of the few dances with this symbology that’s performed in Catalonia. Ten dancers wear skull masks and dress up in black costumes with a skeleton drawn on them. You’ll get several chances to see them during the procession, but try not to miss the most famous ballades or scenes: the departure from the Bishop’s Seat and that of Christ the King.
