The town of Vilanova i la Geltrú specialises in catching the red and pink prawns which are only found in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Vallès Oriental district produces up to twenty-two unique bean varieties.

“Ventre d’ossos” (stomach of bones), is a 100% artisanal cured sausage made from various parts of the pig and produced in the district of Vallès Oriental.

The Llavaneres ‘coca’ cake is a much-loved dessert in the Maresme district. It is rectangular in shape, filled with custard and covered in pine nuts.

Cardedeu ‘sheep’ is actually a cake which has been made in this area since the 18th century and can be eaten for breakfast, as a snack or as a dessert.

With a sweet flavour and an elongated shape, the vigatana onion is a variety which grows in the Osona district and is great roasted or in salads.

Pastes Sanmartí is a company which dates back to the 18th century. It makes top quality pasta using artisan techniques and thermal spring water from Caldes de Montbui.

Pa de Pagès Català is a country bread made in Catalonia which received protected geographical indication in 2013. It is a traditional, round loaf with a crispy crust, a soft crumb structure and large air bubbles, and at least the shaping of the loaf is done by hand.

It is prepared based on curly endive, anchovies, cod and tuna and dressed with a tomato, garlic and spicy red pepper sauce.

In the Pyrenean districts a vast range of cheeses are made which are unique by virtue of their very characteristic quality and flavour. Amongst these cheeses mention must be made of Alt Urgell and Cerdanya, the only one with the Catalan Designation of Origin.
