Three craft brewery tours
In the last decade, the number of craft beer producers in the Barcelona region has expanded like the foam on a beer. Production increases and becomes more diverse with each passing year, aimed at an increasingly knowledgeable public seeking new sensations on the palate. If you like beer, but you’d also like to know how it’s brewed, take note of these three breweries that regularly offer tours of their facilities.
1. Companyia Cervesera del Montseny
Operating since 2007 in Sant Miquel de Balenyà at the foot of Montseny Mountain. The latest awards they have obtained endorse the quality of their work and the liquid produced in this microbrewery, a 100% natural unpasteurised beer from the family of high fermentation beers. Brewery tours are usually on Saturdays, but not every Saturday! Check before you go!
2. La Cervesera del Pedraforca
From Montseny to Pedraforca, from Osona to Berguedà, specifically to Saldes, where you’ll find this small craft brewery that opened in 2012. The name of the company and the beer is totally logical, not only because of its proximity to the mythical mountain, but also because the brew is made using water from one of the Pedraforca springs.
3. La Cervesera del Poblenou – Cervesa Eco/Bio CESC
The city of Barcelona also brews good craft beer and has breweries that can be visited. This is the case of CESC (Catalan Organic Sustainable Beer from its initials in Catalan) in the Poblenou quarter. As they make clear with their name, they brew a 100% organic product using only organically farmed malts and hops. The brewery can usually be visited on Friday evenings (except public holidays) and on some Saturdays.
- Always book in advance to guarantee your place on a guided tour of any of the breweries!
