Two routes from Vallès to Maresme

Between Vallès and Maresme lies the Serralada Litoral (coastal range), a protected area between large city centres. An ideal place to breathe in some fresh air, exercise and enjoy the stunning views over the sea and the Maresme region. We suggest two routes between the inland and the beach, i.e. between Vallès and Maresme, to contemplate the blue horizon.

1. From La Roca del Vallès to El Masnou

The last stage of the Green Meridian, a long-distance route to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the decimal metric system, between the Pyrenees and the Maresme beaches. This demanding tour lasts almost five hours and can be done on foot or by mountain bike. The route starts at La Roca del Vallès, where the ascent to the Serralada Litoral Park sets off, which must be crossed in its entirety. As you walk along, you will come across such sights as Pla de la Surera, the Romanesque chapel of Sant Bartomeu de Cabanyes and the Dolmen de la Roca d'en Toni. The highest point of the tour (492 metres) is located at the hermitage of Sant Mateu del Bosc, Premià de Dalt, where you can visit the town's history museum. From there, a five-kilometre descent with panoramic views of the whole Maresme to Ocata beach, in El Masnou, where the Green Meridian leads into.

2. From Montmeló to Premià de Mar

A second alternative to go from Vallès to Maresme along the Serralada Litoral (coastal range) coastline is via the Coll de la Creu d'en Boquet, always with the sea in sight on a route from Montmeló to Premià de Mar that lasts almost five hours and can also be done on foot or by mountain bike. Before starting to climb, the route crosses Vilanova del Vallès and the Riera d’Ardenya. Then you head towards the sea through the woods at the foot of the hills of Mas Miquel, Lloveres, Can Tàvec and Moreu. The highest point of the tour is the pre-Romanesque chapel of Sant Salvador, which is attached to the Can Boquet farmhouse, an equally interesting basilica-shaped civil building. At this point begins the descent that crosses Vilassar de Dalt and ends at Premià beach.
