This museum was inaugurated in 1961 in an 18th century mill that had been expanded and was in operation until the beginning of the 20th century. This building is next to the reservoir that powered the more than 30 mills in Capellades and is a living testimony to the town's famous paper-making tradition. It is no coincidence that it is the only museum in the world that manufactures paper using the same, pre-industrial tools and procedures of the day. In the basement of the mill is an interesting display on paper manufacturing, along with an important collection of machinery, tools and documents and a study centre on paper and paper mills in Catalonia. The Museum belongs to the network of the Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia and to the prestigious Watermark Route, made up of major paper production and preservation centres throughout Europe.
