Walking among the vineyards

The province of Barcelona's five wine and cava denominations of origin regions offer numerous possibilities: learn how to distinguish between a young and a vintage wine, take part in the daily work of a winery, find out about the different grape varieties, sleep overnight on a wine estate and, if you like walking, explore some of the marked trails that pass through the province's vineyards. Can you think of better way to spend the weekend?

In the region of Alt Penedès, the Wine and Cava Trails enable you to explore different places of interest and find out about the area's different varieties of vine. The region offers eleven walking trails and a driving tour of the area between Castellet and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia

Near the towns of Alella and Tiana, you can explore the beautiful Mediterranean landscapes that inspired the poem Green vineyards by the sea ('Vinyes verdes vora el mar') by Josep Maria de Sagarra. The guided trail, designed and organized by Serralada Litoral Park, is ideal for seeing the agricultural resurgence of the region of Maresme, while you retrace the past.

In the Flequer Valleys, in the heart of the region of Bages, a trail has been created to take in the area's collections of dry-stone, wine vat-shaped buildings, which were formerly used to make wine in vineyards that were located far away from villages. The trail starts in the village of Pont de Vilomara and runs on both sides of a stream in the midst of an extraordinary landscape that will leave you speechless.
