Your beach, very close by
You'll see one fantastic beach after another along the R1 commuter line, which offers some spectacular views between Sant Adrià de Besòs and Malgrat de Mar. If you put your mobile phone away and look out of the window, you'll see a diverse, changing landscape, where family beaches alternate with nudist ones, marinas with fishing ports, little modernist palaces with fishermen's houses, and relaxing terraces with the excitement of nautical centres. This variety is the main feature of a coastline that has been attracting plenty of visitors for a long time.
And to the south of Barcelona you'll find some lovely beaches that are easily reached on the R2 commuter line. One the one hand, there are stops at urban beaches with plenty of services and activities to make your stay more pleasant, two examples being Castelldefels and Cubelles, where the Blue Flag is flying this year. But, on the other hand, it also takes you to small, sheltered coves such as those of Garraf, real natural paradises where you can enjoy absolute peace and quiet if you visit during the week.
With the travel cards of Rodalies de Catalunya (commuter rail service) you can travel right along the Barcelona coastline, saving time, hassle and money. Find out which type of travel card works out cheapest for you on the website of Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona.
