Infinite light

As well as its magnificent light, visitors are attracted to Garraf region by its unique beaches and a particularly mild climate. It is the perfect place in which to relax and enjoy life, and the enormous number of intellectuals, adventurers and artists who have decided to live here is clear proof of that. How about coming with us on a visit to some of the most interesting places this land has to offer us?

Vilanova i la Geltrú is an ancient fishing village that has managed to adapt to modern life without losing its links to the sea. In the 19th century, it was known as ‘little Havana' and one can still see the traces the ‘Indians' left; these were local people who travelled to the Americas in search of fortune. Among these traces are the town's colonial architecture, the fantastic 19th-century railway facilities and the shawls worn by carnival groups.

Sitges is, on the other hand, a town loved above all by artists. If you visit the town centre, you can still hear the echoes of the famous Modernist parties that the painter Santiago Rusiñol organised in his home. You can also admire the works exhibited in the Maricel Museum, an art centre where a wealthy doctor gave free rein to his passion for collecting. You can recover from the Stendhal Syndrome with a swim on any of Sitges' 26 beaches or over a glass of Malmsey on the promenade.

Does your life need more magic and humour? Visit Cubelles Castle and the permanent Charlie Rivel exhibition.  Among his personal possessions, costumes and photographs, you'll discover the wonderful world of a clown who delighted generations of spectators with his famous howls at the moon. It's really worth a visit!
