Oristà chick pea

The Oristà chick pea is marketed in restricted small quantities and is renowned for being smaller than your average chick pea. It is also very tasty, quick to cook and has a fine skin. Traditionally it was cultivated for local consumption within the Oristà area. Nowadays there are very few growers of this crop which flowers in July and is harvested between the end of August and the beginning of September. In terms of cooking, it can be combined with grains or green vegetables to make different dishes with high energetic value and rich in minerals.
