Country markets

It would not be possible to enjoy good food in the regions of Barcelona without the country markets that can be found in all towns and cities. They are the best showcases for products that have denomination of origin status, such as Catalonian cava and wine, cured sausages and game from the interior, mushrooms and truffles from the Pyrenees, fruit from Maresme and vegetables from Baix Llobregat. An incredible variety of products that you can buy directly from the producers, available much closer than you think. Well worth a visit!

Manresa's farm produce market. This market, in the capital of the region of Bages, sells specialities that are hard to find in other towns and cities. The stalls are located on Europe Square, the market square and near the Carme wall from Monday to Friday.

Vic market. If you like markets with live animals, freshly harvested vegetables and the best handmade products, this is the place for you on Tuesdays and Saturdays on Vic's main square. You will have a great time! And understand perfectly why the people of the region of Osona are so happy to do their shopping here.

Calaf market. Every Saturday, the tree-lined square and district of Sant Jaume in this historic town in the region of Anoia fill up with stalls offering all kinds of gastronomic treats. The market, immortalised by the writer Apel·les Mestres' popular legend, is ideal for sharing recipes and cooking secrets from the 13th century.

Baix Llobregat's Agricultural Park market. Every Sunday, Torreblanca Park, an area of countryside between the municipalities of Sant Joan Despí and Sant Just Desvern, plays host to a market offering fruit and vegetables grown by local farmers from the region of Baix Llobregat. The growing range of organic produce available demonstrates the desire of many producers to fully respect the local area's ecosystems.
