Strokes of freedom
In the regions of Barcelona, there are numerous clubs, marine resorts, schools and specialist companies that offer you the chance to easily and affordably get into the world of canoeing and kayaking. On the Baells reservoir, for example, you can enjoy all kinds of water-based activities and, at the Sau reservoir, you can hire out all of the equipment you need to explore the valley at your own leisure or book a guided trip – an ideal option if you want to safely discover little-known sections of the river Ter. Accompanied by a guide, you will certainly not get lost!
On the banks of the river Llobregat, in Navarcles, you will find another place that offers canoe trips. Lake Park is a reservoir with extremely calm waters, where many families have experienced their first nautical adventures. Also, in summer, the lake is a great place to enjoy a drink, ice cream or a relaxed dinner under the stars.
If you are more interested in canoeing for sporting rather than leisure purposes, the Olympic Canal of Catalonia is an unbeatable location. Close to the beaches of Castelldefels, surrounded by Mediterranean pines and built on the wetlands of the Llobregat delta, this artificial channel is a dream for those who want to fly along the water at speed.
To delight sea lovers, the province of Barcelona's two marine resorts offer canoeing and kayaking courses and trips. One is located to the south of the Catalonian capital, in the city of Vilanova i la Geltrú, and the other to the north, in Santa Susanna, both of which offer the opportunity to admire some of the most delightful beaches and coves in Costa Barcelona from a new perspective.
Pineda de Mar also has a very well-equipped water sports centre with interesting activities for young and old. Another must-see place to go!
