The Tonis Festival in Taradell
In Osona, the Tres Tombs Festival has a name of its own: the Tonis Festival. Taradell was the first Catalan town to hold this festival. Don’t miss the chance to experience an ancient tradition that celebrates rural heritage.
The Tonis Festival in Taradell is an ancient celebration in honour of Sant Antoni Abat (Saint Anthony the Great), the patron saint of animals. It has been held in Taradell since 1780, and although technological developments in farming in the 1960s threatened the continued existence of the festival, the organising committee ensured its survival. Since 1995, the committee has also devoted its energies to recovering all kinds of carriages and farming tools and now boasts one of the leading collections of its kind in Catalonia.
