5 amazing hiking circuits

Hiking circuits allow you to enjoy different landscapes from start to finish. You do not have to go back the same way or worry about where you left your car. For you to be able to choose where you would like to go, we suggest five hiking circuits through five regions, all of which are amazing.

1. Tona Trail

A tour for those who feel like hiking, it takes just over six hours to reach the Muntanyola hill, passing by the Sant Esteve chapel. If you like cycling, this tour is for walkers and cyclists alike who want to discover the Osona region. If you decide to round off the day with a stroll through Tona, you can also climb the hill overlooking the town. At the top, you will enjoy stunning views of the Vic plain and will be able to see the remains of the old Tona Castle and the Romanesque church of Sant Andreu up close. This is the Tona Trail

2. Ronda Codinenca (ring road)

A simple, family-friendly option, this hiking circuit takes about three hours around Sant Feliu de Codines, entering the forests of the Vallbona stream and returning to the town along the Perer cliffs. The Ronda Codinenca is a great way to discover the Vallès Oriental region. To round off your visit, check the opening times of one of Sant Feliu's most iconic sites: the  Cim d’Àligues, a centre where you can learn all about these gorgeous birds through guided tours and watch them fly freely from a natural viewpoint in front of all visitorss.

3. Camí del Samsó

A tour in the Alt Penedès region, the Camí del Samsó runs along the Foix River basin and the Pontons stream, a five-hour hike through a rural setting among vineyards, farmhouses, forests and small villages. The trail starts at the square of Torrelles de Foix and leads you, shortly afterwards, to the chapel of Sant Joan de la Muntanya, which is worth a visit both for its architectural richness – it is an 11th-century Romanesque building – and for the panoramic views it provides. After crossing the Coll de la Creu de Sapera pass, there is Les Dous, a recreational area with 35-jet fountains surrounded by a large waterfall and a picnic area, where you can have a bite and spend the day.

4.  Ruta del Sol Blau (Blue Sun Tour)

A five-hour tour offering breathtaking views of the Baix Llobregat region, the Blue Sun Tour takes you around the hills surrounding the town of Torrelles de Llobregat. The starting point is the Town Hall Square in Torrelles de Llobregat, but, once you leave the town, you will get to a farmhouse, Can Reinal. One of the most spectacular moments of this tour is waiting for you a little further on, when you climb to the summit of Puig Vicenç, which offers panoramic views of the Llobregat delta, Garraf, Collserola and Barcelona.

5.  Battle of Prats de Rei

A hiking circuit through the Anoia region that follows the main sites of one of the most important battles of the 1714 war. The Battle of Prats de Rei tour is a four-hour hike along the paths where more than 57,000 men fought in the early 18th century. The Battle of Prats de Rei took place in 1711, three years before the fall of Barcelona. A large number of the country's troops and commanders took part. After four months, Field Marshal Starhemberg forced the Bourbon army to flee to Lleida, but the conflict ended in 1714 with the defeat of Catalonia and the loss of the country's national freedoms. The siege of the capital was one of the bloodiest episodes. In fact, the Catalonia’s National Day is celebrated every 11 September, because it was on this day that the city fell to the troops of Philip V. In Prats de Rei, you can also visit the Josep Castellà Museum, where you will learn about the history of the ancient Iberian settlement and the Roman town of Sigarra.
