Caramelles in farmers houses in Cardona
Enjoy the caramelles (traditional songs sung at Easter) in Cardona as they used to be performed: singing and dancing at the farmers' houses in the town.
In the past, caramelles were not only sung in the streets of the town. The singers also went out to the farmhouses on the outskirts of the town, as in those days there were many farmhouses dotted around. In Cardona, this tradition of singing the caramelles in farmhouses still lasts. With a table full of food, the farmers anxiously wait to see the dance of the bells. In the past, caramelles were also danced as a kind of ritual to expel devils and evil spirits.
