To preserve and recover the prestige of the pottery trade, Sant Julià de Vilatorta holds El Tupí Pottery and Earthenware Trade Fair.
During the 17th century, pottery became one of the main activities in Sant Julià de Vilatorta. There were up to 32 potters and the town started to be known by the nickname of Sant Julià de les Olles [Olles are earthenware cooking pots].
