6 gorgeous viewpoints

From a high vantage point, overlooking vast expanses, you get a unique double feeling: on the one hand, you feel important while taking in so much space with your gaze; on the other, you realise how small human beings are in the immensity of nature. Be it as it may, it is a joy for the senses to glimpse the endless colours, plains and mountains that bring the region to life. Here are six prime places to enjoy panoramic views.

1. Queralt Sanctuary

Some have dubbed it “the balcony of Catalonia”. With this nickname, you can imagine that the view from the Sanctuary of Santa Maria de Queralt is impressive, with a bird's-eye view of Berga, which lies just below, but above all, far beyond, up and down the Llobregat River and towards the Pyrenees. It is also a must-see for its history and heritage.

2. Ullastrell

Located on a ridge, this small village near Terrassa provides a great viewpoint from any of its streets, whether towards the Vallès Occidental and the Baix Llobregat regions or a picture-perfect view of Montserrat. However, if you want a 360-degree view, head to the viewpoint above the church, where you will find a poem listing the many towns you can see from this spot.

3. Balsareny Castle

Many of our castles are located on high ground with outstanding views of the surrounding area. Of the many we could have chosen to highlight in this article, we have finally settled on two. One is Balsareny Castle, which is privately owned but open to visitors, providing views of the Bages plains, Montserrat, the Pyrenees and more.

4. Boixadors Castle

The second castle with outstanding views that we would like to mention is Boixadors Castle, on the outskirts of Sant Pere Sallavinera , in the Alta Anoia region, overlooking the Calaf plateau. A stunning sight!

5. Tavertet

As well as being a town worth visiting for its streets and stone houses, from Tavertet you can enjoy the rugged, breathtaking views of the Collsacabra cliffs and the aerial view of the Sau reservoir.

6. Miravinya El Circell

On Puig de la Mireta in Les Gunyoles, in the Avinyonet del Penedès area, is the El Circell viewpoint, the first of five in the Miravinya project by Penedès Tourism. From here, the 360-degree view allows you to see from the sea to the Pyrenees, but above all the stunning landscapes of the Penedès region.

  • All these places have in common, apart from their outstanding views, that you do not have to tire yourself out to get there. They can all be reached by motor vehicle!
