Museu Abelló

This museum was inaugurated in 1999. The structure has three floors and a basement: the first and second floors house the permanent collection. The tour starts in the rooms devoted to 19th and 20th century art. Here one can observe the first steps in Abelló's work, where he reveals the influence of Joaquim Mir and Carles Pellicer. On the second floor is a permanent selection of the painter's work, brought together under the title Llenguatges (Languages). On the ground floor are temporary exhibitions, as well as L'Aparador (shop window), a space with a large showcase facing the street devoted to all varieties of production proposals and the spreading of the visual arts. The work of emerging artists exhibited in this showcase hopes to attract the attention of passers-by and become integrated into the lives of pedestrians. The building's basement is devoted to the programming of courses, conferences and small exhibitions, with a room where an audiovisual presentation about Joan Abelló is shown. The center organises visits and workshops for schools, in addition to activities for the whole family on the weekends. The museum also has a rest area for visitors, a gift shop and a reception service. The artist's house is close to the museum. In it, one can discover the complex and varied personal collection the artist accumulated over the years. The services offered are: visits to the temporary and permanent exhibitions at the Abelló Museum; visits to the house of the painter; visits to Mollet's menhir; children's workshop and birthday celebrations.
