Celler Can Roda

This winery is part of the stately home Can Roda (1864), which the Bonaplata family of Barcelona built in Santa Maria de Martorelles, on an forty-hectare estate surrounded by forest and vineyards. The country house has a singular building style, a square base in which tile takes precedent over brick, distinguishing it from the type of architecture characteristic of Catalan manor houses, no doubt on account of its relatively recent construction. Since 2010, Can Roda has produced wines under the DO Alella, in the north of Barcelona. Their seven hectares of vineyards planted with the varieties Pansa Blanca (the most common of its Designation of Origin), Muscat, Merlot and Cabernet. They produce up to eight wines: whites (Pansa Blanca Muscat, Pansa Blanca and Criança Sauló); reds (Jove Merlot and Negre Criança); rosé, sparkling wine (Brut Nature) and aperitif, under the name Clarea. Guests can sample the wines, learn about the history of the winery while touring the vineyard and purchase in the winery store.
