Igualada Town Festival
Igualada Town Festival is one of the oldest in Catalonia. Enjoy the tradition for Sant Bartomeu!
Mentioned as early as 1388, Igualada has one of the oldest town festivals in Catalonia. It is celebrated in honour of Sant Bartomeu, the city's patron saint who even today is the star of a procession. It has all the makings of a traditional town festival. There are giants, capgrossos (figures made of papier-mâché), a correfoc (in which people run around dressed as devils holding fireworks) and a performance by castellers who build human towers. Don't miss it if you wish to see the dance of the Cercolets, typical of winegrowing areas, which Igualada revived a few years ago.
