Bodies that Speak

The exhibition “Bodies that Speak” explores the depiction of the female body in the world of comics from the turn of the 20th century to the present day.

Curated by the illustrator and cartoonist Marika Vila, an expert in the portrayal of gender identities, the exhibition brings together work by forty women comic book authors, puppeteers and illustrators, tracing the evolution of the depiction of the female body from the patriarchal stereotype to the freedom and empowerment of women.
