Exhibition: Penelope, The Sea is Yours

This exhibition explores the challenges faced by six leading women in the world of sailing and the different ways they tackle them.

The exhibition is inspired by one of the characters in Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey. During the twenty-year absence of her husband Odysseus, who had left for the Trojan War, Penelope proved her ingenuity and patience by weaving a shroud during the day and unravelling it at night, thus delaying her choice of a new husband

From a nautical perspective, patience and ingenuity are virtues of great sailors. The exhibition “Penelope, The Sea is Yours” presents the experiences and challenges of six leading women in the world of sailing at different stages of their careers: Abril Marfà, Natàlia Via-Dufresne, Nora García, Maria Torrijo, Andrea Emone and Ana Pujol.
