A Weekend by the river: ideas and routes to Enjoy the Via Blava with the Family
A weekend following the course of the Anoia River can be a real adventure for young and old alike. The Via Blava Anoia, which runs from the river’s source to its mouth, offers sections and paths ideal for walking or cycling with children. But it also hides charming villages, natural spaces, games, and gastronomy to round off the trip.
Saturday morning
The Vía Blava Anoia currently offers 19 kilometers that can be easily covered by bike or on foot, making it perfect for enjoying a pleasant family morning. If you are traveling with very young children and the full route feels too long, you can simply choose a shorter section. In every town along the way —Jorba, Igualada, Santa Margarida de Montbui, Vilanova del Camí, and La Pobla de Claramunt— you’ll find parking areas and easy access points to the route. In Jorba and Igualada, you’ll also find information about the route and charging stations for electric bikes.
If you’ve already explored the Vía, you might want to try another trail, such as the one from Castellolí to the Roca Cagadora, following a simple path with little elevation gain. It’s ideal for children and combines nature, legends, and curious landscapes.
For lunch… local gastronomy
El Somiatruites is a unique venue located in the Rec district of Igualada, which stylishly and authentically combines gastronomy, hospitality, and experiences for every occasion. It offers a high-quality gastronomic proposal that, despite its excellence, remains affordable for a wide variety of visitors.
Afternoon in Igualada
Visit the Leather Museum, where you’ll find an exhibition on traditional crafts and how leather was worked. For a snack, you can head to the Town Hall square and take a stroll along the urban section of the Vía Blava, which features a bike lane and playgrounds.
Sunday
Bike (or walking) excursion from La Pobla de Claramunt to Claramunt Castle
A short and easy stretch that follows the riverside and ends with the climb up to the castle (the little ones can stay playing in the square’s playground).
You can stop for lunch at Hotel Robert, which, with more than 85 years of history, offers a warm and welcoming gastronomic experience, featuring homemade cuisine rooted in family tradition. Located within the hotel, it combines seasonal dishes, tapas, flatbreads, and more elaborate options, always maintaining a strong traditional character.

Short walk to Montserrat viewpoint from El Bruc
If you still have energy, a brief walk to this viewpoint is a spectacular way to say goodbye to Anoia with the most iconic mountain in the background.
Extra Tip
Combine short stretches of the Via Blava Anoia with frequent stops: fountains, viewpoints, villages with services, and play areas. This way, children stay engaged and the experience is relaxed for the whole family.
