La Corrida

La Corrida Festival in Puig-reig

The traditional Tres Tombs (Three Laps) festival has its own name in Puig-reig: La Corrida, a festival that’s over 125 years old, featuring horses, carriages, cured sausages and plenty of other pork-based products!

Tradition has it that the feast day of Sant Antoni Abat (Saint Anthony the Great) is the day on which to pay tribute to muleteers and animals. And that’s why beasts of burden and carriages are the star attractions of La Corrida Festival in Puig-reig. In this town of the Berguedà region, they also take the opportunity to celebrate one of the most important local industries, namely cured sausage making, with a fair. The most spectacular moment is in the afternoon, when the horse, mule and donkey races take place, also known as corrides.
