Palau Güell

Palau Güell

Built between 1886 and 1890 on commission from Eusebi Güell, the Palau Güell is Gaudí's first major work and a genuine gem hidden in the heart of the Raval neighbourhood. The ground floor, austere and clad in grey marble, contrasts magically with the play of colours and shapes of the twenty sculptural chimneys on the rooftop. The central hall, conceived as a concert room, features a dome that resembles a starry sky and exceptional acoustics you can still experience during your visit today. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984, it is one of Gaudí's least crowded works — and for that reason, one of the most authentic.
