On the beach with children

When the good weather arrives, the beach is one of the tourist attractions that everyone likes, especially families with children, since the huge variety of seaside activities on offer guarantee hours of playtime, physical exercise and entertainment. What's more, on the Costa Barcelona there are six towns that hold the Family Holiday Destination seal, which means they're particularly attentive to children's needs. Would you like to know which ones they are?

Modernista 'souvenirs'

Very close to Barcelona you will find a great many examples of modernista works created between the 19th and 20th centuries. Urban palaces and holiday homes, churches and hospitals, warehouses and gardens, factories and cellars, all with the signature of the great architects of the movement in Catalonia: Antoni Gaudí, Lluís Domènech i Montaner, and Josep Puig i Cadafalch, among others. To commemorate this cultural trend, different towns and cities are organizing festivals and fairs to recover their aesthetic quality. Want to find out more about them?

Landscape of vineyards in the Penedès region

Skirting around the Foix Reservoir, this route is split into two stages: from Sant Sadurní d'Anoia to Sant Pere Molanta (very close to Vilafranca), and from there to Castellet i la Gornal. In addition to natural places of interest, the route also takes in jewels of cultural heritage such as the Monastery of Sant Sebastià and the Monumental Site of Olèrdola.

Peaks with the kids

Let’s not beat about the bush: what we’re proposing here is reaching peaks, so there’s definitely some uphill effort involved. But hey, they’re perfectly manageable with a little effort, including for young kids of walking age. You’ll find that little mountains can also offer great panoramic views.

Montserrat

It is difficult to find a more appropriate name than Montserrat (serrated mountain) for Catalonia’s most iconic mountain range. With its unusual shapes, bold peaks and dangerous cliffs, the mountain's imposing profile cuts across the sky above the great central depression of Catalonia, while living up to its name.
