El Puig de Fonollet

The rural house of El Puig de Fonollet was expanded twice, during the 18th and 19th centuries, respectively. However, it has undergone its most radical transformation yet with the most recent rehabilitation, which was undertaken due to the fact that the house was badly affected by the fires that ravaged the area in 1994. The building retains the three main walls that were not destroyed by the fire, as well as some archways. Two surviving washtubs were recycled and converted into modern bathtubs. The house spreads over two floors and an attic, and is exquisitely decorated, combining modern facilities with antique furniture. The undulating terrain in the surrounding area is great for walking and hiking. Nearby trails pass by several farms, where cows, pigs and chickens are raised, as well as other attractions such as the churches of Sant Sadurní de Fonollet and of Mare de Déu del Roser, or the Roques de Madrona and its magnificent views.
