Castell d’Orpí

An old border castle appearing in documents dating back to the 10th century provides the current staging for this restaurant surrounded by woods and farmland. All that remains of the old construction is the tower as an ancient witness to the fact that Orpi castle was a fortified enclosure. In this restaurant in the Anoia district, the cooking maintains age-old flavours although it also takes on some original touches after the cooking process. So diners can enjoy a typical rice stew although it is pitted with surf and turf 'obstacles', prawn carpaccio served with herring roe or the magret of duck with tomato, onion and asparagus jams. The most traditional dishes are homemade cannelloni, char-grilled meat, grilled vegetables with peppers and aubergines cooked in the wood-fired oven and the desalted cod esqueixada salad. Its desserts are the perfect way to finish a great meal. You can choose between a classic tiramisu, crema catalana, profiteroles or truffles, or take a chance with the figs in brandy with vanilla ice cream or the xarrups (dessert cups) that are always on the menu.
