Museu Municipal de Nàutica del Masnou

The Museu Municipal de Nàutica exhibits various collections dedicated to the natural sciences, history, science and technology, and archaeology. This last discipline, along with themes related to the nautical world, is the one that attracts most visitors´ attention. The archaeological exhibition displays remains of the Iberian and Roman sites excavated in the area. The nautical history collection consists of imprints, sheets, and offerings dedicated to seafaring virgins from the end of the 19th century and the beginnings of the 20th. We also find a picture gallery of sailing and steam ships that includes works by Josep Pineda and Antonio Jacobsen, and an exhibition of tools and materials used by sailors of the day. A unique piece is the porcelain figure of a boy carrying a basket of tobacco and cocao, typical products in trade with America and a symbol of the Tupinamba company, dating from the 19th and 20th centuries.
