Platja Gran

Gran beach is almost 1.5 kilometres long and is considerably wide, on average approximately 70 metres. The slope to enter the sea is quite steep and the sand is moderately coarse. Next to Garbí beach to the west there is a large sandbank which is the maritime front of Calella. During the peak season there are thousands of swimmers given that this is the busiest beach in the area. It has all the usual beach services. It is an ideal beach for those with reduced mobility since wooden walkways go right down to the shore. Its area opposite the sea is flanked by the train line ad the Anselm Clavé promenade which is a pleasant landscaped promenade with several bars and restaurants. The yacht club is in the area furthest north with marked channels for boats coming in and leaving. The town cemetery follows on from this and is the only one in the area on the sea front. It also marks the end of the town before the Poble Nou district starts which belongs to the neighbouring town of Pineda de Mar.
