Baix de Cal Coca mill
Also known as the Nou mill, Baix mill or Cal Ròmul, this structure was formerly used as a paper and cloth mill, as well as a copper factory. While today it is an urban dwelling of no particular artistic interest, it retains some of the characteristics that give away its past as a productive building.
The Coca family had long held the rights to four mills and was the effective owner of the mills in the Figueres district from the first half of the 17th century until the early 20th century. In 1923, Ròmul Gavarró Garcia bought the Dalt and Baix de Cal Coca flour and paper mills to use the water for economic purposes and founded a company to supply drinking water to Igualada and Vilanova del Camí, thus ending the centuries-old tradition of making paper at this mill.
