Coca canal
Also known as the El Coca aqueduct, Cal Marió canal and Les Figueres canal, this century-old irrigation canal diverts water from the Carme stream.
The origin of this irrigation canal can be found in a water catchment site located about 3 kilometres from the Les Figueres neighbourhood, on the right bank of the Carme stream, within La Torre de Claramunt.
Initially, the plan was to build a sluice near Cal Patera, after which an aqueduct was built (the current bridge over the Carme stream) to bring water to the El Coca canal. The ditch was first documented under the name Les Figueres canal in 1573, “next to the road from La Pobla to Carme”.
