Palou

Located in a late 19th-century colonial home, Palou is a small hotel that sits in the town of Sant Pere de Ribes, a short distance from the beaches of Sitges. The facade of understated elegance is adorned with a cluster of palm trees that highlight its colonial past. There is a lawn garden surrounding a lovely pool at the back. The reminiscence of life overseas and the first owner of the house, an American named Cristóbal Cuadras, is very much present inside the hotel in the decorative details, such as tiles and wrought-iron railings, and the names of the rooms: Tabaco, Bananero, Algodón ... All are adorned with colours and furniture pieces to match their names. Among them is Doctor Cuadras' room with a pretty plaster-coffered ceiling. The common areas, including the dining room, where breakfast is served, and the library, presided by a large display cabinet, are also imbued with the romance of a time, when long distances made travel an adventure. The tranquillity of the place gives a sense of stepping back into a close past.
