Ondarra-Berri

This is one of the best known Basque restaurants in Barcelona, both because it is great value and due to its influence in bringing the most authentic Basque cuisine to this city. At the Ondarra-Berri, they know that anyone coming here is only after two things: a taste of some of their most typical pinchos or eating well with generous portions at a good price. Both needs are met by dividing the place into two settings: a bar where you can try tapas and a dining room for anyone who wants to sit down and take their time eating. As for its pinchos , just like any Basque place of its standing, there are more than 25 different types to suit all tastes. We can recommend classics involving crab, black pudding, chistorra, tuna and the open sandwich Gilda with olives and anchovies. As for dishes, the menu lists an excellent selection of some of the most typical recipes from Basque cuisine. You can try the hake in green sauce, lamb with sweet red piquillo peppers, homemade cod omelette, duck liver with port sauce or its fried sauce , house specialities. They are original sauces from Donostia based on oil, vinegar, garlic and guindilla pepper that are served with dishes such as hake or the sapito (monkfish for anyone who has yet to try the flavour). The wine cellar has around forty wines as well as the essential txakoli and cider.
