Casa Alcaide

Casa Alcaide is an age-old restaurant, founded in 1929, run nowadays with almost the same philosophy as back then: a family feel and traditional cooking based on hearty dishes made with time and patience. Its doors open each day at nine in the morning to offer early risers a good breakfast. In addition to classic sandwiches, you can start the day with good dishes like grilled steak; butifarra sausage with green beans; Rioja-- or Basque-style eggs with chistorra sausage, or a classic steak and chips. At lunchtime, among the starters, they offer a variety of salads, artichokes with vinaigrette, noodles à la marinière, esqueixada cod salad or one of Casa Alcaide's specialities, the Basque egg pipperade made with eggs, pork, ham, tomato and peppers. For a main course, you can choose between grilled sea bass, oven-baked hake, tripe with chick peas, the sirloin steak skewer or the char-grilled beef. All served, if you wish, with tomato chapata toast and classic alioli.
