River Park
The Vilanova del Camí River Park is the stretch of the Anoia River between the Can Titó bridge and the Els Moletons plain which is now open to the public. The construction of an artificial lock helped create a roughly 750m-long reservoir, which is now home to a small local ecosystem of animals and plants for which the river is their main habitat.
Here we can see species such as the green-necked duck, the moorhen, the grebe, the long-tailed tern, the kingfisher or the cormorant, as well as migratory birds such as the purple heron, the little egret, the common swallow or the cane grove. There are also small mammals, such as the common shrew, the little shrew or the common mole, and reptiles and amphibians such as the brook turtle, the water snake, the green frog and the toad.
The creation of the Park was only possible once the water from the river had been cleaned, as up until the 1990s, this stretch of the Anoia was highly polluted.
