Can Sala – a farm school

Would you like to show your little ones what life on a farm is like? At Can Sala, you will find a farm school with dozens of animals and different activities to explore what a farmer’s daily life is really like. Every weekend, Can Sala opens its doors for families to explore this environment with the help of instructors. You and your children can touch different animals, such as rabbits, goats or lambs, take a short pony ride or experience what it is like to milk a cow (albeit a fake, but very realistic one!). Depending on the time of year you visit the farm, you will also have the opportunity to take part in other seasonal activities, such as the grape harvesting, chestnut roasting or Christmas celebrations. Can Sala also has emus, a bird very similar to the ostrich, which, depending on the day and their needs, you will have the opportunity to feed or bathe. Every day comes as a surprise at Can Sala! If one morning is not enough, you also have the option of eating at the farm’s restaurant and staying all day. In the afternoon, you can enjoy the farm again or play in one of its recreational areas. Genuinely rural life at Plans de Cornet

To find out what rural life actually is like, stay at​​​​​​​ Plans de Cornet. This farmhouse, located in a natural setting in the Bages region, is a perfect place to experience rural life. Join Susanna and her family as they feed the calves, collect the hens’ eggs and fall in love with their rabbits, while watching the lambs graze in the woods and the stubble of the freshly mown fields. Farmers by vocation and tradition, this family will welcome you with open arms to share their daily life with you and your family. Try your hand at being a cattle farmer at the Baluard de Ferreres houses

Come to Baluard de Ferreres and try your hand at being a cattle farmer. If you want to experience authentic country life as it used to be, this house will not disappoint you. Maria Àngels and her family have a livestock farm with calves, chickens and lambs, and they will show you their daily tasks, while you spend a few days surrounded by nature in Olvan, in the Berguedà region. Stay in one of the three rural houses on the estate (El Baluard, La Volta and Cal Cisteller) and visit the main farmhouse to let the chickens out, feed the calves and the pony and, if you are lucky, you can even bottle-feed the baby lambs. A unique family experience you will want to repeat.

El Baluard and Cal Cisteller can accommodate 7 people, whilst La Volta sleeps 5. All three offer every comfort and shared facilities for a countryside weekend: a barbecue, a fireplace for chilly days and a swimming pool for warmer weather. You will not need anything else!  

Among chickens and rabbits at Cal Barrusca

At Cal Barrusca, every last detail has been thought of to ensure families have an unforgettable stay. In addition to the family farmhouse, the estate includes two secluded accommodations surrounded by fields and pine and oak forests, next to the beautiful medieval town of Prats de Rei, in Anoia. You will find a swimming pool to cool off in summer, a barbecue area for celebrations, a sports court for family games and even a playground. However, the jewels in the crown are the small farmyard, with a henhouse and a couple of rabbits, where you can go to collect the eggs and feed them every day; and a treehouse, where you can enjoy the most exciting adventures. Country life at El​​​​​ Codinach

Experience country life in the heart of the Lluçanès region in a farmhouse with over 700 years of history. Next to Sant Boi de Lluçanès lies a rural paradise. El Codinach is an estate surrounded by fields and cows in the Sant Boi valley. Apart from livestock farming, Montse and Quim built three rural tourism houses 30 years ago, with capacity for 10, 7 and 4 people, with a clear goal in mind: to give more urban tourists a taste of country life. So, if you stay with your family in one of these houses, you can become a real cattle farmer for a morning. You will feed the chickens, ducks and cows and play with the rabbits, while Montse and Quim tell you about their daily life.
