Sant Fèlix Town Festival and Saint's Day
Sant Fèlix of Vilafranca del Penedès Town Festival is one of the most typical ones in Catalonia. And there are plenty of reasons for this!
It is half an hour past midday. The town square is full to bursting. The best four casteller (human tower-building) groups, including the Castellers de Vilafranca, start to put together the most spectacular castles of the year. It is the Feast of Sant Fèlix of Vilafranca del Penedès, the high point of a town festival that combines traditional events with celebrations held for the general public, as it has done for centuries. Giants, large papier-mâché heads known as capgrossos, people dressed up as devils and all kinds of town dances complete the programme of what is said to be the most typical festival in Catalonia.
